We are very proud about the meals at Telo Island lodge and have invested a lot of time and energy to ensure that our meals are healthy, plentiful and delivered in the most hygienic way possible. During the 2009 refurbishment we have fitted a brand new commercial kitchen that features stainless steel prep areas, modern refrigeration and all the things need to run a first class kitchen. It has again been upgraded in 2011/12. Executive chef Rhys Hartigan, Gerry our resident chef and his team are on point from dawn till late at night delivering everything from huge traditional feasts to a quick snack.
Fresh fruit such as bananas, watermelon, mandarins, apples or papaya is available for you to help yourself at all times at the lodge. Tea, coffee, fruit juice and bottled water is included in the Telo Islands Lodge package price and is available for you to help yourself to at all times all you need to do is ask one of the staff.
We generally serve breakfast in the main house dining area from 7.00am to 8.00 am and it includes everything from fresh fruit salad and various cereals such as muesli, corn flakes right through to bacon and eggs, French toast, banana pancakes, pancakes and omelets. There is always plenty of fresh toast and all the various spreads such as jams, honey and vegemite.
Our lunches are generally a sit down affair served after guests return from the morning surf session. Lunch times vary from 11.00am to 2.00PM and are served in the Main House dining area.
The lunches change each day and you will generally not eat the same meal twice during your stay, we have everything from chicken Cesar salads through to enchiladas as well as traditional Indonesian Nasi Gorengs.
We have built a tradition across the years of serving fresh seafood snacks around sunset drinks time, or when guests return from the last surf session. These vary from sashimi through to king prawns or calamari all fresh from the local fishermen. Our bar snacks are the perfect entrée for our main meal of the day, dinner.
Dinner is the pride and joy of our chef Gerry and this is where it’s no-holds-barred territory.
Whole grilled fresh reef fish, roasted imported meats, prime rib steaks, banquet style traditional Indonesian rendungs, mud crabs, lobster, curried, crumbed & grilled fish, pasta dishes of every type, amazing potato salads, green salads, exotic fruits the list goes on. Some of our well-traveled visitors claim the dinners at Telo Island Lodge are the best food of any surf resort on the planet.
Generally a hand prepared dessert of some type. Ice-cream through to banana cakes, chocolate mud cake, carrot cake, tropical fruit platters and preserved fruits in glazes. We swear it’s a crime but often guests are not able to make it through to dessert from the main meal and they have to have the dessert refrigerated for a midnight snack.
