North Sumatra

Its been a fun week up north this week and while the swell has not been epic by Indo standards it has remained super fun and any surfer in the area has had a pretty big grin on their face. The best waves were early in the reporting period around the 24-25th and then a second flare of swell graced us with it’s presence on the afternoon of the 27th. According to Ben MaCartney’s forecast we should see some action toward the end of this week again (last three swells have been on Thursdays or Fridays) so stay posted next week to see what gets delivered.

North Sumatra Report and Pics by Shane Peel.

The full moon this week saw some pretty huge tides that drowned a bit of the thump our fresh swell had when it first arrived.

Despite the conditions not being epic a bit of careful timing on the 25th saw a few deep tubes for those willing to search a little further.

The colors of the tropics were out in full force this week.

The view from the Coastalwatch North Sumatra bearau was a bit grim later in the reporting period.

Despite the ups and downs of the ASX and sporadic swell Greggy Down was a winner on all fronts this week.
